my contribution to the WPBT get together - I post a lot of song lyrics on here - these are some of mine

Las Vegas Blvd. - by Russell Brown - copyright 2006 ;)

I long to see vacation from the sunrise and the sword
the light's gone out of being angry and I'm hungover from the war
got myself a hotel room where no one wants to go
and I'll work for lonely purpose but I'll reap what I sow
I ask the waitress "how much is that drink" she says it's free
I know but I just like to hear her say sweet things to me
and I'm laughing as the chips come from the wealthy and the poor
till I've won myself enough that I don't love you anymore.

Angels of the strip you keep me safe and keep me hard
like a hurricane ashore upon Las Vegas Blvd.
cause accidents are common when you're living every day
like it's the first one that you fashioned, or the final that you fade
I ask the waitress "how much is that drink" she says it's free
I know but I just like to hear her say sweet things to me
and I roll myself a seven, then I roll a dozen more
till I've doubled up enough that I don't love you anymore.

There's always someone coming, it's a neverending tide
and there's always someone's bridesmaid wishing they could be a bride
I don't have the good looks, love, and I don't have the pride
but you know if I got the money, there'll be someone by my side
I'll ask the waitress "how much is that drink" she'll say it's free
I know but I just like to hear her say sweet things to me
and I fall into the arms of some ol' girl who keeps me warm
till I've fallen far enough that I don't love you anymore.

and the person that I want to be, the one I'm not right now
is not the one that I will be when I come rolling into town
I get so sick of who you are and where I'm supposed to be
that if I cannot change forever, then why would I ever leave
I'll ask the waitress "how much is that drink" she'll say it's free
I know but I just like to hear her say sweet things to me
and I walk this street from sundown till the calling of the morn.
and I've changed my luck enough that I don't love you anymore.
