allrighty...so I woke up wanting to play poker, but wanting to do something different - a quick cursory check shows I haven't played NL games in a while, and since it's closer to what I've been doing lately, wtf

somedays, it doesn't get any easier

long night's sleep - I kept dreaming I was in casinos in TX - trying to find a straight game of video poker and no luck...LOL - I ended up playing 6/12 poker in my dream, but the chips sucked -

I've noticed something interesting about my behavior lately...I prefer to spend more time dreaming and being asleep then being awake - I also seem happier - but unable to distinguish between reality and fantasy in them (twice I ordered a drink in my dreams, but turned it down - guess that's a good sign)

life feels strange - and so do I, but I do have an email now, so at least I have a real email - LOL

I took a few days off from the tables...bad luck combined with a slightly increased interest in a space shooter game I played two years ago got me off the tables for a few days

I'm playing in a satellite for Pokerstars $215 -- I've entered that damn thing twice now and lost - maybe 3rd time will be a charm :) - but my brain feels ready for it again - I'm reading WSOP updates as they come in, and I'm eager to get going on this -

I am surprised to watch Poker Kings on A&E lately - they talk about how many tourney pros are barely making it - including the number 2 and 3 rated players - and one guy gets busted for smuggling cigarettes...LOL - that's rough.

I've had AA twice in this satellite so far...once I pushed all in to a raiser, once I raised and got no callers - man...there go all my good cards.

I had a dream about Townes Van Zandt last night...

I dreamed there was a stage…. I dreamed there were minefields and walls between the bar/audience and the stage – and we musicians were on one side and everyone else was on the other side

It wasn’t my band, but I was on the stage side….and then I looked over…I saw a young Steve Earle trying to negotiate a truce, and the I saw an old Townes at the bar..and I snuck out of the stage side, past the minefield on the left, and sat by Townes

It was a very old Townes, drinking Manhattan’s (whatever they are) and scribbling in a notebook – and he talked to me and I was so stunned that a deceased guy was talking to me…..my favorite hero talking to me thru the afterlife...

And then…I introduced him to someone else…I don’t remember who it was, but it was another Van Zandt….truth be known…I think I introduced the old guy to the young fresh faced guy…...the young un-addicted Townes Van Zandt....fresh faced, flirting, and uninhibited by alcohol

And then as time went by, I remember the old Townes turning younger…I think Townes got better as the band got on stage and played..(the band was Moondaze, BTW) – and he was as he used to be before he drank his life away....

I don’t know what it means…but I hope Townes is still writing songs….young, angelic, and free....I miss ya, Townes..

I will not be playing in this years WSOP - I took my 33 tourney dollars and entered an event - no rebuys, no add-ons -

next thing I know - I'm 7th of 15th, in the BB with QQ when I get raised by a loosie - I repop all in and he has A6, flops an A, and I die - right read, right time, painful luck

two turns later, same retard tries the same stunt on the chip leader, and the chip leader calls with AJ - and drops that dumbass out in 14th....small justice, but nice -

so, str8ghtflush - I shall be watching....hopefully, you'll be able to take my chips, and take the WSOP with it....GL

but I'll be watching from home this year.

RB

ah....this is just plain old wrong....of every type...- clearly every sort of wrong

thank god it happened to work for me this time instead of against me...LOL

well, a quick $5/10 game got me 84 bucks in one hr, and a quick satellite got me a $215 seat for $31 in 90 min...

guess I'm in the Pokerstars 215 today....gonna take an hr off beforehand to relax....cook a pizza, grab a coke, and read some Salansky (been reading HEFAP - I've had it and skimmed it for yrs, but you know..I don't think I've EVER read the bastard cover to cover- same with Theory of Poker) - no wonder I'm barely a winning player so far

I think Patty is right....I live too many miles from the ocean....

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mother of God - Lyrics by Patty Griffin

All you kids get out the back door
I've never seen her this mad before
She took all her favorite things down from the window
and broke 'em all over her clean floor
It's Saturday at the mansion
The oldest boy walks with a slouch
The young ones are wild in back of the house
and she gave up and went back to sleep on the couch

Something as simple as boys and girls
gets tossed all around and lost in the world
Something as hard as a prayer on your back
can wait a long time for an answer

When I was little I'd stare at her picture
and talk to the mother of God
I swear sometimes I'd see her lips move
like she was trying to say something to me
When I was eighteen I moved to Florida,
like everyone sick of the cold does,
and I waited on old people waiting to die
I waited on them until I was

Something as simple as boys and girls
gets tossed all around and then lost in the world
Something as hard as a prayer on your back
can wait a long time for an answer

So I'm wearing my footsteps into this floor
One day I won't live here anymore
Someone will wonder who lived here before
and went on their way
I live too many miles from the ocean
and I'm getting older and odd
I get up every morning with my cup of coffee
and I talk to the mother of God

Something as simple as boys and girls
gets tossed all around and then lost in the world
Something as hard as a prayer on your back
can wait a long time for an answer...
can wait a long time for an answer

back to the grind...I've put $100 (I will put an extra if need be) into a 5/10 game on Pokerstars -

I need to improve my raked game...I'm tightening up considerably for this round (I usually play too loose...a/la tourney play) - and keeping my eye on group 1-4 hands....looking for the cards - and trying to make some money

I'm just too discouraged to try to grind out money from tourneys....don't come in often enough...players who make a living do so usually at raked games....Pokerstars is fairly tight, but you know.....at least I won't get run down by 22 on the river :) - gotta get this part of my game back...it's been too long...
